What ID to bring
In Missouri, you must show a photo ID when you vote in person.[1] This is true on Election Day and when you vote absentee in person.[1]
IDs you can use
Bring one of these:
- A Missouri driver's license that is not expired.[1]
- A Missouri nondriver's license that is not expired, or that does not expire.[1]
- A Missouri driver's or nondriver's license that expired after the last general election.[2]
- A photo ID from the U.S. government or the state of Missouri, such as a U.S. passport.[1][3] It must show your name and photo and have an expiration date.[1] The name must closely match the name you signed when you registered.[1] It must not be expired, or it must have expired after the last general election.[1]
- A photo ID from the U.S. Armed Forces, the Missouri National Guard, or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. It must not be expired, or it must have no expiration date.[1]
No other kinds of ID are accepted.[1]
If you do not have one of these IDs
If you are registered, you can still vote a provisional ballot.[2] It counts if one of these happens:[2]
- You come back to your polling place on Election Day, before 7 p.m., with a photo ID from the list.[1] If you voted absentee in person, you go back to the election office by 7 p.m. on Election Day instead.[1]
- Or the election office checks that the signature on your ballot envelope matches the signature on your voter record.[2]
You get a stub with steps to find out if your provisional ballot was counted.[2] See Provisional ballots.
